Fish Finger Cookies and Custard

Thankfully, these are actually cookies – which I’m sure every Whovian would prefer over fish fingers. Hit the link below for the recipe. I know it's two Doctor Who posts in a row in one day. It just sort of happened.

UVIC offers a "Science of Batman" course

In further proof I picked the wrong f***ing major, the University of Victoria in British Columbia is offering a 'Science of Batman' course that explores the human body and it's adaptability though the life of Batman. No word if losing both parents at a young age is a prerequisite. I'm not kidding. See the university link.

Little girls are better at designing superheroes than you

In Alex Law’s awesome new project/Tumblr, Little Girls Are Better at Designing Superheroes Than You, the undergrad biology student/artist takes pictures of little girls dressed up like superheroes and turns them into awesome drawings. Law writes: ”Kids are more impressionable than you, but kids can also be less restricted by cultural gender norms than you. Kids are more creative than you, and they’re better at making superheroes than you.”

Walmart Paintings by Brendan O'Connell

Artists find inspiration in all kinds of unusual places. Brendan O'Connell got inspired by shopping at Wal-Mart and started painting scenes from inside Wal-Mart stores. He's achieved quite a bit of success, to the point that his paintings now fetch up to $40,000. Which means they're not going to be on sale at Wal-Mart anytime soon. However, the company has purchased one of his paintings.

Charge your mobile devices with these awesome Juice Boxes

Firebox is releasing juice boxes for your smartphone that don’t require a refrigerator and give your device the energy it needs to be pressed up against your head and fondled for hours on end. The chargers are touted as “tough, compact and portable” and include a USB cable with the relevant output for your smartphone or device.

The boxes are available in three “flavors” including Orange (universal), Blackberry (micro USB) and Apple (iPhone).

This is what it has come to... Creative quadcopter wedding proposal

Every man tries to pop “the question” in the most memorable way, some of the most extreme wedding proposals get the highest hits on Youtube, but if you’re one looking to make it special but not extravagant you got to check out how Jason asked Christina to marry him. A Fresno, California, based wedding photographer Chris Geiger shot one of the most unusual proposal video, where the wedding ring gets delivered by a quadcopter. We’ve seen dogs, kitties or some other lovely pets delivering the ring, but a quadcopter doing the noble job is definitely the first.

My Knitted Boyfriend

My Knitted Boyfriend is a knitted bodysuit by Noortje de Keijzer that looks like a cartoon man that can be worn by a real man. Don't have a real man? Stuff this one full of pillows and socks and commit to the sadness. Presumably the bodysuit was made for women that love everything else about their lover except his looks. This way you can knit him to look like whatever you want. Except realistic looking. Or thinner.

Colour Changing Coffee Cups

Firebox is bringing back the spirit of hypercolor, except this time it’s being applied to espresso and cappuccino cups. Available in a range of bright colours, these cups mysteriously react to your super strong (yet surprisingly small) hot drinks.

With each drip or sip they gradually morph into a different shade, making every cup unique. The cups are crafted entirely from glass and are available in Lilac, Orange, Red, Blue, Green and Apple.

Black Milk with The Lord of the Rings designs

Black Milk getting the licenses for Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit is good for all of you LOTR fans. They keep putting the coolest images and designs on nylon! The only bad part is budgeting and deciding which ones to choose.

Ottoman Candy in Istanbul

If you ask me how does one make Tarihi Osmanli Macunu or traditional Ottoman Candy, which is made out of five flavors of thick taffy spiraled around a stick, I'd say magic. But our pal Juergen of For 91 Days sets us straight. He's captured the (I'd still say magical) process on video

The sweetest way to quit your Job

Chris Holmes had a good job as an immigration officer for UK Border Force, but his passion is making cakes. You can read on this cake how he made the decision to quit his job and devote himself to his bakery business Mr. Cake. He couldn't have found a sweeter way to quit than to present his supervisors with a delicious cake, which he did Monday. It's a "spiced carrot cake with pecans and sultanas and coconut" with orange icing. His former colleagues with him the best.

Lord of the Rings Scarvenger Hunt Wedding Proposal

This may be the sweetest, most involved geek proposal I’ve ever seen. Luke Plastow put together a Lord of the Rings themed scavenger hunt for his girlfriend on Christmas Day last year with the intent of asking her to marry him at the end. He wrote to us to say, “She is a huge Tolkein fan and it seemed right that if I was going to give her a ring it should be LOTR themed. The ring itself is Palladium, with a stone the same colour as Sauron’s eye. The setting for the stone is the same shape as Isengard. Inside the ring is an inscription in Black Speech saying ‘One ring to rule them all.’ ”

Amphibious Prosthetic

It’s easy to take for granted little things like running on the beach & swimming. Murr-ma is a specialized prosthesis that extends these experiences to amputees or those with mobile disability. Inspired by the dorsal fin of the sailfish, the fins channel the water flow alongside the carbon fiber backbone & out at the sides, providing the wearer with the necessary thrust to move through the water. The split toe design also makes it possible to easily transition from sand to surf.
